West Campus Dorm

At its core, Deerfield is committed to shared experiences and a powerful sense of community. We have long known that learning and the development of character, empathy, and citizenship, are holistic and relational, and occur across every dimension of Deerfield life—including in our dormitories. Our boarding program is foundational to this historic ethos.
As the first girls dormitory to be built in more than two decades, the West Campus Dorm—located beside Barton—will complete Deerfield’s “twins and quads” model, which pairs girls and boys dorms around common spaces that invite connection and ultimately allow for a more inclusive experience for all our students.
With the creation of our West Campus Dorm, Deerfield will also embrace a fully residential boarding school model. This model strengthens everything Deerfield stands for: connection, community, and the formation of young people who live and lead with purpose, integrity, and compassion. In a fully residential school, students meet as equals, united by the shared experience of communal living.
This is a defining moment for the Academy—one that will deepen the shared experiences, lasting friendships, and collective commitments that shape our students’ lives.
Goals
To make available 38 additional student rooms;
To add four faculty residences that will bring teachers closer to the campus core and the student experience;
To strengthen our ideal 10:1 faculty to student ratio in dormitories;
To have the West Campus Dorm serve as an essential connector between the Wachsman Athletics Complex and the north playing fields; and,
To offer a more inclusive and cohesive Deerfield Experience for every student as we enfold local families within our community.
