The Brick, Deerfield’s Beautifully Revitalized Dining Hall

The “heart and soul of our campus and our most important classroom,” The Brick is vital to our traditions, culture, and identity. This beloved building links one generation to the next and is the cornerstone of the Deerfield Experience, embodying the best of our community values.
We expanded and revitalized this Academy landmark for the same reason it was built in 1948: to respond to the needs of a thriving school. The Brick now has sufficient space for every student and every teacher to gather together to share meals, connect across differences, and create lasting bonds.
Goals
To bring together the entire student body (650 students) for sit-down meals, ensuring a vital tradition for generations to come;
To promote health and wellness; and,
To sustain Deerfield’s commitment to inclusion, community, and joy.
