Deerfield Academy has received a transformational commitment of $30 million to support the restoration of the Main School Building, a central priority of the Be Worthy Campaign and the single largest outright commitment in the Academy’s history.
Known to generations of students as the MSB, the building stands at the heart of campus and has long served as a powerful symbol of Deerfield’s mission and legacy. This historic project will restore the building and return it to its original purpose as a vibrant academic hub for teaching and learning, advancing a broader campaign goal of ensuring that Deerfield’s core campus is dedicated to living and learning together.
The gift, made by a third-generation Deerfield family, also includes two meaningful acts of recognition. The Main School Building will be named in honor of Frank Boyden, whose leadership helped define Deerfield for generations, and the Boyden Library will be named exclusively for Helen Childs Boyden, honoring her extraordinary legacy as an educator and lifelong learner.
Originally opened in 1931, the Main School Building will approach its 100th anniversary as this restoration is completed, ensuring its impact for the next century. This extraordinary commitment reflects the spirit at the heart of Be Worthy: leaving Deerfield stronger for the generations who follow.
